If you had told me years ago that I would one day be raising doodle puppies and helping families find their perfect companion, I probably would have smiled and said, “That’s not the plan.” But sometimes God has a way of leading us down paths we never expected, and looking back, I can see how every part of my story helped shape what Have-a-Doodle  Hill™ has become today.

I am a Christian, and my faith is at the heart of everything I do. I believe animals are one of God’s many gifts to us, reflecting His creativity, beauty, and joy. Caring for them well is something I take seriously, and it is a privilege that I never take for granted.

For much of my adult life, I worked full-time with a humanitarian aid organization and spent years traveling in ministry. I am also a musician and play the grand concert harp, using music as a way to serve the Lord and encourage others. Music has always been a significant part of my life, but so have animals.

My love for dogs began when I was young. My harp teacher not only taught me music, she also raised Airedales and competed with them in agility. I was fascinated. Watching her work with her dogs opened my eyes to the incredible bond that can exist between people and animals. I loved seeing how each dog had its own personality, strengths, quirks, and way of interacting with the world. From that point on, I was hooked.

That love was reinforced by my grandmother, who has spent her life caring for animals of every kind imaginable. Rescue dogs, horses, and even the occasional turtle all found a place in her heart. Growing up around her taught me that animals deserve kindness, patience, and respect. She showed me that caring for animals isn't just about meeting their needs, it's about genuinely enjoying them and appreciating them as part of God's creation.

Then life took an unexpected turn.

When my mother was diagnosed with cancer, everything changed. I temporarily stepped away from my travels and ministry work to help care for her and accompany her through treatments and appointments. It was a difficult season, but it was also a season that slowed me down and rooted me in one place for the first time in many years.

As I spent more time at home, I found myself investing more deeply in my dogs. What started as a growing interest quickly became a passion. I immersed myself in learning everything I could about responsible breeding, canine health, whelping, puppy development, and early socialization. I sought advice from trusted breeder friends, spent countless hours researching, and became determined to build a program that reflected both excellence and integrity.

Before long, Have-a-Doodle  Hill™ began to take shape.

What I discovered was that I absolutely loved every part of the process, from carefully planning litters to helping puppies grow and develop during those precious first weeks of life. There is something incredibly rewarding about watching a puppy's personality emerge and then seeing that puppy become a beloved member of a family.

Today,  Have-a-Doodle  Hill™ is built on the values that have shaped my life: faith, compassion, stewardship, and a commitment to doing things thoughtfully and responsibly. Our program focuses on health, temperament, and raising puppies in a loving family environment using natural and holistic approaches whenever possible.

What began as an unexpected chapter during a challenging season has become one of the greatest blessings of my life. Every puppy we raise carries a piece of our heart, and every family who welcomes one home becomes part of the Have-a-Doodle  Hill™ story.
