The coffee is hot (at least for the first three sips), sourdough is rising on the counter, and the kids are arguing over who gets the blue pencil because apparently it's the only one that can do math correctly. Before Mom can announce today's lesson, a fluffy little shadow comes bouncing into the kitchen carrying someone's undies...that definitely weren't offered as a toy. The kids squeal. Mom laughs.
